I am wearing a mask and costume from the Cologne carnival. Part of the tradition of the Cologne Carnival is that German's dress in blackface. In this work I am exploring that dynamic by wearing a costume that includes a grotesque caricature mask of an African. I am chewing up and spitting out the Mohrenkopf confection on the tiny bust. This performance/ action was done in Cologne, Germany in the wake of the carnival.
